Alfio Pappalardo

Alfio is a regular guy who grew up to live a normal life in a small provincial town in Italy. Perhaps it is precisely this normality that triggered him to dream about doing things differently. To live in a different way. To find himself in extraordinary situations, far removed from the reality of the path that was paved for him.

He decided to attend art school, and still works as a goldsmith for a renowned company in his city where he’s spent the last twenty years creating exquisite pieces of jewelry. His friends are much like him. They share his tastes and passion for the extraordinary, while the women in his life come and go.

The Gold Black Magazine Motorcycle

In his spare time, Alfio uses his goldsmith patience and effort on motorbikes. He tinkers with them and restores them to their former glory. He dreams of one day restoring iconic automobiles in the same way.

Alfio Pappalardo is a guy who believes in live and let live. He believes in doing things very well and in a particular way, with passion, from the smallest detail to the largest element of the job at hand. A common goldsmith by day, but a man with extraordinary gifts and vision by night. Alfio is The GoldBlack Magazine.

The name ‘The GoldBlack Magazine’ came about in a fitting way. The word GoldBlack is the union of two words that strongly reflect the way Alfio lives his life. ‘Gold’ obviously represents his profession as a goldsmith. It represents the beautiful material he’s spent a lifetime shaping. ‘Black’ is the color that best represents him as a person: It’s reflected in the way he dresses, in the accessories he keeps around, and in the way he looks at the esthetics of cars and motorcycles. Black is always Alfio’s first choice.

Zeus 'n Hades

“The GoldBlack Magazine was born as a joke back in 2011, resulting from a silly bet with a colleague, to post the most beautiful photos on Instagram… Who would have thought it would end up like this?! It has become a pleasant commitment and a continuous inner search, because I have always found it more fascinating to divulge what goes through my head, rather than the banal and somewhat obvious images of a common life. Who knows, maybe one day my life will become my page.”
